Undergraduate Requirements

As well as GCE and VCE A Levels, the University accepts a wide range of entry qualifications including:

• Edexcel/BTEC National Awards, Certificates and Diplomas and Higher Diplomas
• Scottish Higher
• Scottish Advanced Higher
• Irish Higher
• Higher Education Foundation Course (HEFC)
• Access Courses approved by the national recognition scheme
• Foundation Courses
• European Baccalaureate
• International Baccalaureate
• Overseas qualifications.

Entry requirements for individual undergraduate programmes are given as UOG tariff points. In some cases, you will need to have studied particular subjects at a certain level, for example at GCE/VCE A level or GCSE. Entry to an undergraduate degree requires the achievement of a minimum of 12 units from GCE/VCE A levels or equivalent. Some courses require the achievement of a minimum of 18 units from GCE/VCE A levels or equivalent. Applicants with other qualifications should contact Admissions for advice on the minimum number of units/subjects required.

The University offers a range of courses at sub-degree level. For these, the entry criteria may be different to that stated above and are explained in more details on the individual course web page (go to the Course Search link and search for a topic that interests you).Studio-based Art and Design degrees usually require completion of a Foundation Course in Art. This will also be used as evidence of creative ability. Completion of a BTEC Design or General Art and Design Course is often accepted as an alternative. Applicants could also possess the following: GCSE grade C or above in five subjects, together with two subjects at GCE/VCE A Level, one of which should be in art or design.Personal skills acquired through, work experience and other forms of curriculum enhancement, such as the acquisition of Key Skills, will also be viewed positively.

Prospective candidates should not be discouraged if they do not meet the precise requirements described.
